Soldier of Fortune review: Cobra Commander Hooded 25th Anniversary

Cobra Commander always seemed a little too crazy to me. Im not saying I didnt like Cobra Commander as a kid but I never understood how that nut bag could be in control of Cobra. I get it now with 30 years of stories to pull from how he could do it but just following the Sunbow cartoon you would have to wonder. He was so incompetent that by the second season of the show Cobra engineered his replacement Serpentor. In reality Hasbro probably just wanted to make a new big bad to sell in the stores for the new season.  In the cartoon C.C. was a failure and a punching bag. Every Joe that confronted him would tee off on him every chance they got. Even Destro wouldnt take any lip from his employer most of the time. Slapping him around when he got out of hand. When C.C. would do something crazy his cohorts would make the best of a crazy plan. Even when he was replaced in the cartoon I still rooted for him. To me it just didnt seem right even though I did like Serpentor.

Soldier of Fortune Review: Baroness 25th Anniversary Black Suit

In the world of comics and toys its hard to argue that there is a hotter female character than Cobra's very own Baroness. This European goddess was as cold blooded as she was beautiful. I am sure she is a favorite character for alot of fans. Now everyone knows that her number one main squeeze and partner in crime was Destro. These two pretty much were at the top of Cobra's forces only behind the Commander himself. That alone was pretty cool for fans of G.I. Joe having such a strong female counterpart to the good guys.

Soldier of Fortune Review: Major Bludd 25th Anniversary

Major Bludd is a really funny case to me. As a kid I never really understood him as a character. I was supposed to believe he was a top ranking member of Cobra and also a badass mercenary. When it came down to it he was pretty low on the totem pole. Sure he could order around some flunkies but I always felt like he was behind Baroness, Destro(the weapons dealer?), Zartan(the other merc), The Crimson Twins and anybody else that showed up not a Cobra Trooper. Was I also the only person that felt he was out of place and and just sort of disgruntled. His outfit wasnt particularly blue, red and black. Nope he wore his brown jump suit without a care in the world.  What about Zartan you might say? He wore a brown motif as well. Well Zartan had his own faction and I always felt he legit was on his own side.

Soldier of Fortune Review: Duke 25th Anniversary

When I was a kid Duke never resonated with me the same as some of the other characters. I liked him and respected that he was the leader of the cartoon Joe's but I was a Flint man myself. I always knew that he could get the job done but there was something about him that was too apple pie for me. The fact Scarlett was his main squeeze also never did anything for me either. I cared for her even less. To me Flint was the man all day with Lady Jaye also being my favorite Joe female. What that has to do with a toy review you ask? Well as a kid I had the Duke figure but never had the original Flint figure. This kinda ate me up but that's life.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero

Come back with me if you will in the way back machine. The year is 1986 and im a boy of 5 years of age. It is any random saturday morning and i just finished watching cartoons. My mother says its time to get ready to run errands with her. My aunt and her daughter are going to pick us up to go to the local mall. My older sister(11) and me fight over something random. Such is life when you are a poor kid living in a suburb of Chicago in the 80s.
